These are some very basic
SEO tips, but should help you along the way.
These two are optional, but important:
A. Own your own domain (i.e.
www.mydomain.com)
B. Host your site on a reliable server
- Shorten the title to 55 characters
- Add the robots tag
- Place the robots.txt in the root of your server
- Dispose of the JavaScript in your code and place it in an external file
- Use CSS instead of color, size and font tags
- Change the link buttons or JavaScript links to text links
- Ensure you have a site map
- Ensure you have a 404 erorr page
- Ensure your page code is not larger than 100 K
- Submit your site to ODP and Yahoo directories and ensure you select the right categories
- Pay special attention to your content
- Try to get as many relevant links as you can
- Reach each search engine guidelines and follow them strictly
- Don't spam
- Don't use doorway pages
- Don't cloak
