    Problem generating PDFs...

Disregard. The 'test' php script I was using was flawed, evidently. I used another and it seems to be working.

I do have another question, however. Is it possible, using php_pdflib, to export HTML output to a PDF file? I'm still searching for an answer that doesn't include FPDF in the solution...

Take a look here: PHP: PDF - Manual

    and also here: http://www.sitepoint.com/article/generate-pdfs-php/

Also, in the comments section of the above link, there are some links to open source solutions.

The solution that worked for me...

I found a little program called dompdf that does exactly what I need. It takes raw HTML input and converts it almost EXACTLY to a PDF. It even recognizes the page-break-before/after tags that I rely on for the reports I send.
