    I've just realised something...

Now that I know the left menu in the master page is being rendered after the view task page is loaded then I don't have to do anything to change the task details. The task details are updating before the queries that populate the left menu are running so it picks up that they've viewed the updated task without me having to do anything!!!

    What an idiot!!!

Actually, I'm not an idiot...Just realised what I was actually trying to do.

The view task page I have is within an update panel and the left menu is outside this update panel. What I need to do is update the number of tasks the user has overdue etc. when doing a partial postback, for example when they complete a task.

I guess I'll have to put the left menu inside an Update Panel and add the triggers on the page load of the view task page...

I'm confusing myself here...No point in asking anyone for help...I don't even know what I'm doing myself!!!

Must be holiday syndrome kicking in early....
