in cellA2..i want it have values "1, 2, or 3" depending on value in A1...
if less than 50 then "1" else if between 51 and 100 then "2" or else greater than 100 then "3".

Thanks for the reply.
Its telling me I entered too many arguments...I changed 1,2,3 to A, B, C...does that make a difference?
ok...sheesh...this was a PITA...thanks so much mehere...
tweaked it to:
Code:=IF((A1>100),"C",IF((A1>50),"B","A"))
too many parenthesis ...
Code:=IF(A1>100,"C",IF(A1>50,"B","A"))
