Question stopping IIS

Hi All,

I will need to prepare for my sqlbackup and stop IIS prior to backing sql....i've never done this before and i found the following steps. Is that all there is to it? Also, if I don't choose to start it, when the server is shutdown and restarted, will it start up automatically as a service?

I believe i'm running iis 5.0 because my server is windows2000.

Code:
Launch the Microsoft Internet Services Manager
Select Start /Programs/ Administrative Tools/ Internet Services Manager

Locate and Highlight your Web Server from the left preview pane.

Select the Start Item icon from the toolbar to start your Web Server.

Select the Stop Item icon from the toolbar to stop your Web Server.

Yes, that's all there is to stopping your web server. I do believe that after you reboot, the service will startup automatically. If not, follow the same steps as above, only choose to start the service instead of stop.

Yep jmh is right... that is all there is to it. I do this all the time. Just remember to start it again when you are done because the sevice will be inaccessible while IIS is not running. Good Luck!
