Use a list with a parameter?

    Hi All,

Ok, I've reviewed some of the samples here but not sure if this can be done the way I'd like...

What I have is a form with some buttons, each button basically runs a query to make it easy for the user to just click a button and view the results. For a datefield I have I've used a parameter in the query like so [Enter Date:] in design view of the query. So when the user clicks the button they get the month and have to type in the date. Well, I'd like to add parameter [Enter Location Name:] to locName field but was thinking what if the user doesn't use the exact name, is there a way for me to just have a button and when the prompt for parameter comes up, it will come up with the list of location names?

Is the only way to make the list by using a combo box?

I'm afraid so. The parameter box is just a box. But it's dead easy to create a small Form with any kind of a control you want on it, open it before you call your query, and use its control as the criteria in your query.

    Hi Don,

Thanks for the reply. I was able to finally get it with your help, although I kept messing it up because I thought my forms[frmName]![fldName] was wrong..

I was able to use your help and these instructions from the link below but instead of using a textbox i used the list box:
