This is stricly an off-topic post, but Hey, this is a blog, right? I don't often get the opportunity to tell a tale like this, but it's true.
The faucet in my kitchen sink sprang a leak and I had to call a plumber. A very competent fellow showed up this morning, a German whose wife is a post-doc biochemist at Stanford. They've lived here 4 years, so his German accent was recognizable and we got into a friendly discussion. He comes from Potsdam and so I drug out the album with photos
