Default desktop application

hey guys i need guidance on this project please..

i have a big client with an online catalog.this guy is like a distributor for all kinds of products.

now i wan't to make a desktop application that his clients can download.

it would have a link to the catalog or an i frame with catalog page in it.but it would have to use my login system cause it is secure?

and a page that would show his new product added in his database(mysql)

and maybe an rss feed??

any suggestions guys?thx for the help!

good to know.well the part were i include the web page (catalog link) in a page

and login box that used my mysql database.cause the page is secure.so the client would have to login the application to use it.

Okay, so do you simply want a link to display that will take the user to the web site? There is a hyperlink control in Access that will allow you to do this.

As far as the login box, simply create a form that will appear on startup. Then in VBA, you will need to connect to the mySQL database and query for login information. You could then store some sort of security token or username in a global variable to be used throughout the various forms.

Also, you will want to look at some security features to disable user from viewing source code and any Access tables that you may have.

the first one is i wan't to when the client logs in the application he can access the catalog in the application(like an iframe)

the vba im lost can i get a tutorial or something?

I don't think you could display a web page inside Access (I could be wrong), but you could definitely query the same data and display that data.

Sorry busy today,.. actually really busy,..

This is just a quick job at displaying a web page in access,.. i havent done any error checking,.. but have included a default value of google where null.

im looking up in google conecting ms access to mysql database and i got this site that gives me a good tutorial.

now it is telling me to download a driver and then ODBC 3.51

but now the problem is that i want to package it for him to give to his clients..
